Puja Vidhi (Step by Step)

  1. 1

    Jaladhara (Water Offering)

Begin by pouring Ganga water on the Shivalinga in a continuous stream. This purifies the lingam and the devotee.

    ॐ नमः शिवाय

  2. 2

    Panchamrit Abhishek

Bathe the Shivalinga with milk, curd, honey, ghee, and sugar water — one by one, with mantras.

    ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम्

  3. 3

    Bel Patra Offering

Offer Bel (Bilva) leaves — the trifoliate leaf represents Shiva's three eyes. Offer 11, 21, or 108 leaves with mantras.

    त्रिदलं त्रिगुणाकारं त्रिनेत्रं च त्रयायुधम्

  4. 4

    Dhatura and Flower Offering

Offer dhatura flowers (sacred to Shiva), white flowers, and vibhuti (sacred ash). Shiva loves what others reject — dhatura is poisonous but sacred to him.

  5. 5

    Aarti

Perform aarti with Om Jai Shiv Omkara. Chant Om Namah Shivaya 108 times with Rudraksha mala. Apply vibhuti on forehead.
