Ganesh Puja is performed before any new beginning — starting a business, buying a house, starting a new job, or before any other puja. Ganesha removes obstacles and blesses with wisdom. Especially elaborate during Ganesh Chaturthi.

Samagri (Materials Needed)

•Clay Ganesha Idol (मिट्टी की गणेश प्रतिमा)

•Modak / Laddoo (मोदक / लड्डू)

•Durva Grass (दूर्वा घास)

•Red Flowers (लाल फूल)

•Coconut (नारियल)

•Betel Leaves and Nuts (पान सुपारी)

•Akshat / Rice (अक्षत / चावल)

•Kumkum and Haldi (कुमकुम और हल्दी)

•Incense and Camphor (अगरबत्ती और कपूर)

•Ghee Lamp (घी का दीपक)

•Red Cloth (लाल कपड़ा)

•Banana and Seasonal Fruits (केला और मौसमी फल)

Puja Vidhi (Step by Step)

Avahan (Invocation)
Install the Ganesha idol on a clean platform covered with red cloth. Invoke Ganesha's presence with mantras and sprinkle holy water.

Shodashopchar Puja
Offer 16 upacharas: asana, padya, arghya, achamaniya, snana, vastra, yagnopavita, gandha, pushpa, dhoop, deep, naivedya, tambula, dakshina, pradakshina, namaskara.

Offering Durva and Modak
Offer 21 durva grass blades (Ganesha's favorite) and modak sweets. Recite the 21 names of Ganesha.

Ganesh Atharvashirsha
Recite the Ganesh Atharvashirsha — the most powerful Ganesha prayer from the Atharva Veda.

Aarti
Perform aarti with Jai Ganesh Deva. Wave camphor lamp in clockwise circles. Distribute prasad.
