Significance

One of the 12 Jyotirlingas, located on the route between Gomti Dwarka and Bait Dwarka island. The temple is known for its 25-meter tall statue of Lord Shiva in meditation posture, visible from a great distance.

Legend & Story

According to the Shiva Purana, a demon named Daaruka imprisoned a Shiva devotee named Supriya. She prayed to Shiva, who manifested as Nageshwar (lord of serpents) to destroy the demon. The name also refers to Shiva as the protector of all nagas (serpents).
