The temple's history spans over 2,000 years. The Pallava, Chola, and Vijayanagara kings were major patrons. The current temple administration (TTD — Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) was established in 1933. The temple's annual revenue exceeds Rs 3,000 crore.
