Significance
The 2nd Jyotirlinga and one of the 18 Maha Shakti Peethas. The only place where a Jyotirlinga and a Shakti Peeth coexist. Located on Srisailam hill on the banks of river Krishna in the dense Nallamala forests.
Legend & Story
When Ganesha married first (winning a race around the universe by circling his parents), Kartikeya felt hurt and left for the Kraunch mountain. Shiva and Parvati followed to console him. Shiva stayed on the Srisailam hill as Mallikarjuna (Mallika = jasmine, Arjuna = Shiva), and Parvati as Bhramaramba.
