Dwarkadhish Temple

Significance
One of the 4 Char Dhams and one of the 7 Sapta Puri. Dwarka was the kingdom of Lord Krishna. The current temple is believed to be 2,500 years old with the spire reaching 78 meters. Marine archaeological evidence suggests an ancient submerged city off the coast.
Legend & Story
After Krishna left Mathura, he established his kingdom in Dwarka. The city was an island fortress with elaborate defenses described in the Mahabharata. After Krishna left the mortal world, the city was submerged by the sea. Adi Shankaracharya established one of his four mathas here (Sharada Peeth).
