The Weaver's Son and the Chariot

PanchatantraCleverness Over Appearance

A weaver's son found a broken mechanical chariot built by a master carpenter. He repaired it and discovered it could fly. That night, he dressed as Vishnu, flew to the palace rooftop, and appeared before the princess in divine form, asking her to be his wife. The princess, believing she was chosen by a god, secretly married him. For months the weaver visited nightly by chariot. When the king discovered, he was furious — until enemy armies attacked. The king pleaded with his "divine" son-in-law for help. The weaver panicked, but flew his chariot over the battlefield in his Vishnu costume. The real gods, amused and protective, decided to help him win. The enemies fled in terror from what they believed was Vishnu himself. The weaver earned a kingdom through cleverness and courage, not noble birth.
