The Three Fish
Three fish lived in a lake — Anagatavidhata (the planner), Pratyutpannamati (the quick thinker), and Yadbhavishya (the fatalist). One day they overheard fishermen planning to cast their nets the next morning. Anagatavidhata said, "We must leave now through the stream that connects to the river." He swam away that very evening to safety. The other two stayed. "We will deal with it tomorrow," said Yadbhavishya. When the nets came, Pratyutpannamati quickly played dead. The fishermen tossed him back as a lifeless fish, and he escaped. But Yadbhavishya did nothing, trusting fate alone. He was caught and taken to market. Of the three, the one who planned ahead had the easiest escape, and the one who left everything to chance lost everything.
